Designer Genes Devo

Dear Father -- I thank You that You love me, warts and all. You wonderfully made me and are so patient with me. Thank You!

I was excited for my daughter when she was interviewed for the "The One Year Designer Genes Devo" book, and especially when some of her comments were included in the book. As a proud mother, I bought a copy of the book (well, actually three) :)
I was further delighted to read the book and find wisdom and humour for both my daughter and myself.
The author, Ann-Margret Hovsepian, offers a blog to supplement the book. I recently visited her blog and found a great excerpt on sports and exercise, called "Ski? Me?" on Chapter 7. I encourage you to check it out at http://designergenesdevo.wordpress.com/. She posts updates on Tuesdays, following the dates in Designer Genes.
What resource have you used that has been encouraging?

Tip #35
A healthy weight is important but it is the nutrients that are in the foods you eat that really matter. Carbohydrate provides energy for the body. Protein builds and repairs body tissue. Fat protects internal organs and carries fat-soluble vitamins.

The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17 NIV.)

Home at last

Dear Father -- You continue to surprise me with Your love and attention to my every day life. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' name, I pray.

Five weeks ago, I made a life-changing decision. I attended my first meeting for compulsive overeaters. It astonished me to find other people who suffered from compulsive overeating as I do. I smiled and thought, "I'm home!"
I've started the program of recovery and am amazed at my change in attitude and it's already reflected in my weight. I've lost 5 pounds...one per week!

Have you found a program that has helped you?

Tip #34: How do you get started in a fitness program?
a) Talk with your doctor -- You should get medical clearance from your physician before taking a fitness test and making any significant changes in your physical activity level.
b) Set a goal -- What are the benefits of setting goals? Goals give you the direction, energy and purpose you need to get going. Goals decrease stress and give you a sense of control and accomplishment.

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26 NIV)
