Dear Lord -- Thank You for watching over me and my family, and caring for our every need. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Tip #10: Spice it Up -- Focus on flavour. Add chilies, hot mustard and salsa to your meals, instead of high fat butter, rich cream or cheese sauces. Try non-fattening flavorings such as lemon juice, herbs and curry powders. And try low-fat cooking techniques such as baking, broiling, steaming or boiling. (except taken from Fit for Faith - 7 weeks to improved spiritual & physical health, K Payne)
Any comments?
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NIV.)
Looking back at this week, I feel good about all that I had to get done and all that I did do. On top of that, I managed to walk the dog everyday, lead my aerobics class on Monday night and didn't snack in the evenings.
How was your week?
Week 10 In Review

I've been writing everyday for the last 10 weeks, or approximately 60 days. I've received a few comments here and there from some of my posts. I plan to change the format at this point to a weekly post. It'll include my prayer, Week In Review reflection, a new fit tip, and scripture verse for the week. I hope this will inspire more questions/discussion with readers. If you like this new format, please leave a comment.
Wk 10 - Day 5 Pizza Friday rocks
Dear Jesus -- You are my Saviour, my Redeemer and my King. I praise You, Lord Jesus. Watch over me today. I pray that You put a hedge of protection around me and my family and friends. In Your name, I pray.
It's Pizza Friday again. I'm glad that we found substitutes for my high-fat, high-calorie, high-salt pizza. As well, I changed my dessert from high-fat, large portion treats to something that satisfies my sweet tooth but is less calories. I feel much better about my end-of-the-week ritual.
What changes in your routine made a big difference?
For the Lord your God is a merchiful God; He will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which He confirmed to them by oath (Deuteronomy 4:31 NIV.)

Wk 10 - Day 4 Work, not workout
Dear Father -- I pray You instill in me Your values and lead me not into temptation. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Today, the kids were home from school because the buses were cancelled. My son went to a friend's house for the day and my daughter invited a friend to our home for the day. I was left to work in solitude. I did not leave my desk all day! It was a very productive day, however I realized at the end that I didn't even venture outdoors for a refresher. My fingers got a good workout at the keyboard, but that was about it!
Do you ever get caught up in work and forget about your health?
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:28-29 NIV.)

Wk 10 - Day 3 Eat the Stable too
Dear Father -- I pray an extra measure of Your blessing today. As I go about my daily round, let me know You are blessing me. In Jesus' name, I pray.
There are days where I feel I could not only eat a horse, but the stable too! Today is one of those days. I just can't seem to get enough and my stomach never feels full. Add on that my craving for sweets and I'd be better just to go back to bed!
Ever have a day when you could eat the house?
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NIV.)

Wk 10 - Day 2 Valentine Treats
Dear Lord -- I pray an extra measure of Your blessing on me and my household today. In Jesus' name, I pray.
A wonderful Valentine's Day today. I received 3 beautiful red roses from my students that made me smile. And my husband brought me chocolates. Boy, did I enjoy those chocolates! There are some days when chocolates just feel right. I worked out last night, walked the dog today, and plan to go to the gym again on Thursday. Everything in balance.
What occasions trigger you to crave certain foods?
And He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin" (Exodus 34:6 NIV.)

Wk 10 - Day 1 Good to Be Back
Dear Lord -- Show Yourself to me today. Lord, I want to see Your face. I want to know Your will. I want to know You. In Jesus' name, I pray.
It's good to be back. Today, I spent time shoveling the front walkway. Then tonight, I taught my aerobics class and really worked the core section. After the class, I lead a Bible study. It's nice to be back.
Do you ever miss exercise and studying the Bible?
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13 NIV.)

Week 9 In Review
When we start a new program, we can be so enthusiastic about it. But then as the hours pass, the days pass, the weeks pass we can lose this enthusiasm. Here we are at the end of Week 9 and I am feeling the work involved. It's hard to stay motivated when there are days that I feel I am writing to myself. Is anyone out there? Does anyone care what I have to say? Does anyone read my fit tips? If you're out there, throw me a bone and let me know.
Wk 9 - Day 5 I Got Nothing
Dear Father -- I pray that You help me to make healthy choices in food and exercise for today and the entire weekend. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Some days it is very easy to write in my blog. Other days, it's like getting teeth pulled. I got nothing!
What do you do when your regular routine doesn't seem to work?
But let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the Lord (Jeremiah 9:24 NIV.)

Wk9 - Day 4 Popping Pills
Dear Lord -- Thank You for the blue skies, the crisp winter air and the reminder that You are in control. I pray that I never forget this. In Jesus' name, I pray.
The pain of the headache crept into my dreams. I awoke and immediately went to the cabinet for 2 Advils. Returning to bed, I awoke several hours later with a pounding headache once again. I took a couple of Midol. Then later in the day, the pain returned with a vengence. I took a Migraine Advil and went to bed. Thinking it worked, I got up to prepare supper only to be sideswiped with the pounding pain again. This baby won't give up. At my meeting tonight, a few women laid hands on me and prayed for me. I shall return to bed knowing that God will lift this ache.
Ever had a pain that haunts you relentlessly?
Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God (2 Corinthians 3:4-5 NIV.)

Wk 9 - Day 3 Brown Baggin' It
Dear Jesus -- You care about everything we do. I pray that You watch over me today as I go about my daily rounds. In Your name, I pray.
I am happy that I packed a lunch today. Looking at the prices of food in cafeterias or at fast food restaurants makes me cringe. Also, the variety of high-fat, high-calorie foods is tempting but obviously not healthy. In my lunch, I added a nectarine and plum, bottled water, yogourt, and a raisin bagel. It was yummy, healthy and more affordable.
What do you pack for lunch?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7)

Wk 9 - Day 2 Just Do It
Dear God -- I pray that You watch over me and my family and friends. Place a hedge of protection around us and keep us from harm. In Jesus' name, I pray.
I really shouldn't leave the decision to exercise up to whether I feel like it or not. As the Nike ad says, I need to "just do it". When I think about whether I really want to spend time on the rowing machine and whether I really want to press 300 lbs. then I can easily talk myself out of it. Next week, I'm going to buy that gym membership and commit to go, no matter how I feel.
What slogan motivates you?
It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect (2 Samuel 22:33 NIV.)

Wk 9 - Day 1 Old Man Winter
Dear Lord -- Today is a new day. Help me to see Your hand in all that is around me. Guide me and fill me with Your wisdom to do what is right and good. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Winter is back! Yesterday, I was able to spend the majority of my time outdoors playing in the snow. I got some good cardio activity from clearing the front walkway and back deck. Then I built a snowfort to play war with my son and his best friend. And, if I may say so myself, the fort was super! My elbow is yelling at me today though; the swinging action of the shovel does not combine well with a job that requires many hours on the keyboard.
What are you doing to enjoy the season?
Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10 NIV.)

Week 8 - In Review
About two months have passed since I've started this blog. I am happy to report that I not only reached my goal weight (as set at Weight Watchers) but have been able to maintain it over the weeks. I believe it is largely due to education (knowing what foods to eat), accountability (having to report my day), exercise (making it part of my daily routine), awareness (opening my eyes and not defaulting to "auto-pilot"), support (meeting daily online and weekly at meetings with like-minded people) and prayer (keeping God at the forefront of my day).I'd like to continue on my health and fitness journey and I pray that it will continue to be a success.
Wk 8 - Day 5 Pizza Friday
Dear Father - I pray that You watch over Your children today. Keep us safe, and free from any harm. In Jesus' name, I pray.
Pizza Friday...got to love it. I'm very happy that we found a brand of pizza that is lower fat and lower calories and actually tastes good. I can eat half the pizza (it's a small one) and it's only 7 WW points. I also can indulge in chocolate macaroon for dessert; a low fat, low cal version of the original.
What healthy substitutes have you found?
You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to You (Psalm 86:5 NIV.)

Wk 8 - Day 4 Shop til you drop
Dear Jesus -- Help me to keep my eyes on You today. My Lord and personal Saviour. In Your name, I pray.
I am ashamed to say that shopping got the best of me today. The weather was a balmy plus five degrees and it was so nice to be out and about. After my regular Weight Watchers meeting, I went to my favourite store (Winners) to look for some gifts. But that just got the juices flowing, so I ended up hitting all the stores within that plaza, and a few more for good measure. I missed my opportunity to go to the gym and so my cardio and strength workout were replaced by a "shop till you drop" afternoon.
Do your exercise plans ever go awray on you?
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put thier hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment (1 Timothy 6:17 NIV.)

Wk 8 - Day 3 Came and Went
Dear Lord -- I pray Your guidance and wisdom as I go about my day today. In Jesus' name, I pray.
What can I say about today? It came and went. I was on the go since 6:58 a.m. and am now only sitting down at the computer. It was a good pace of a day, and I ate well, however I did not participate in any exercise. Tomorrow I plan to stay longer at the gym for an extended cardio and strength training workout.
Does a day ever pass you by so quickly you almost miss it entirely?
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27 NIV.)
