Wk 6 - Day 2 Row, row, row your boat

Dear Jesus -- I pray that You watch over me today. Keep me healthy in spirit and body. In Your name, I pray.

I'm not a fan of water sports and never really enjoyed aqua aerobics. At the cottage, I prefer to lounge on the dock. But at the gym, my chosen piece of equipment is the Rowing Machine. I choose this because it gives me a total body workout. Also, it's a movement that I can't easily copy at home. Using a treadmill seems redundant given the amount I walk, and I like to bike in the great outdoors. I manage about 30 strokes per minute (I have no idea if this is good or not :)) and it's a good warm-up to my strength training.
What's your favourite piece of workout equipment?

And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 NIV.)

My favourite workout equipment is the elliptical cross trainer. As opposed to the rower which is very hard on my back, it allows one to stand up and exercise. Both the upper and lower body get a workout.
The upper body because of the arms and shoulders that push-pull the upper bars. The legs because of pushing the pedals.
Another advantage is that one can read a magazine while doing this. I have never seen anyone reading a magazine on a rowing machine!

Dear A,

Because of your response, I tried the elliptical cross trainer at the gym today. It was an interesting workout. But I still feel it uses the same muscles as walking (which I do daily) and I get a better upper-body workout with using weight machines. So I think I'll stick with my rower, but thanks for "weighing in".
